If you struggle with finding time to make breakfast for your family, let alone yourself, you are not alone! In this post, I’m going to share with you my versatile, quick, and easy muffin mix to help simplify those crazy mornings.
Besides, who doesn’t love a warm muffin with slightly melted better slathered on it before heading to school, work..you get the picture.
Why a Versatile Muffin Mix?
If you have children or grew up with siblings, 9 times out of 10 everyone had different taste buds or preferences.
Someone loves chocolate. Another hates chocolate and wants something different. And so on and so forth. Coming to a general decision on one single flavor or food was always a struggle without at least one person being disappointed.

Growing up, this was incredibly true among my two older brothers.
Despite the “disagreements”, this led to the idea of an easy versatile muffin mix!
With a quick and easy versatile muffin mix, you have the ability to combine it with all of your favorite add-in ingredients such as chocolate chips, blueberries, etc.
I know, so simple!
Even better, you can skip buying the pre-made, preservative packed muffin mixes at the store! Saving you valuable shopping time, saving you money, and knowing exactly what’s going into what you feed your family!
Pretty cool, huh?
How to Create Your Own Versatile Muffin Mix
There really aren’t too many tricks to creating a generic muffin mix.
It’s a very straightforward process of simply combining all of your dry ingredients together in their respective ratios. As well as properly storing the mix for future use.
When I stir up a batch of versatile muffin mix, usually I’ll make a triple or even quadruple batch. That way the next time I make muffins, I can cut down on kitchen hassle and get out the door to work on time!
So What Really Goes Into the Muffin Mix
Like I mentioned earlier, creating the mix is an incredibly straightforward process. When stirring up a batch, we only combine the dry ingredients. Flour. Sugar. Salt. Baking Powder.
Don’t make it complicated.
You can add the liquid ingredients when you actually make the muffins!
Storage, Storage, Storage
As with anything food related, storage is key!
Try to keep surplus muffin mix in an airtight zip-lock bag or a canister.
My storage vessel of choice is without a doubt the canister! It serves it’s storage purpose as well as adding a little style to my kitchen!
But regardless of your own style, any container will work. Just make sure you the container is labeled!
It would be quite a surprise to accidentally add a couple cups of muffin mix to a cookie recipe rather than plain old flour!
These canisters are what I prefer. They’re airtight, allows me to write on them with a chalkboard label, and they’re pretty cute!
What All Can You Add In?
Anything. Whatever you’re in the mood for that day! Berries. Chocolate chips. Poppy seeds. Etc.

But seriously, this is an easy generic muffin mix, all you need to do is add a cup to cup and a half of your favorite add-ins. Or as much of the add-in that you like in your muffin.
That’s the beauty of a versatile homemade mix, you can custom fit it to you or your family’s wants or needs!
Another option with this mix would be to divide it in half after adding the liquid ingredients. By doing this you have the flexibility of making two types of muffins at once!
Hopefully there will be something for everyone and you can satisfy all of the taste buds in your household!
Feel free to drop me a comment or question on this quick kitchen tip! And definitely make sure to save this quick and easy muffin mix for those busy mornings!
